Diogo was Prime Minister of Mozambique from 2004-2010, she was the country’s first female Prime Minister. Before becoming Prime Minister of Mozambique, Diogo served as Minister of Planning and Finance for five years. During her term, she led the process of Economic Reforms and the transformation of the Planning and Financial systems, resulting in several changes in the delivery of foreign aid to finance the Mozambican Development Plan.
As the Minister of Planning and Finance, she had the opportunity to interact with both National and International partners, including the private sector.
Diogo has been a member of High-Level Panels in the United Nations, African Union, and the African Development Bank.
During her professional carrier, Diogo was recognized by Time Magazine in 2004 as one of the hundred most Influential people in the World and by Forbes Magazine, for two consecutive years (2007/2008) as one of the hundred most powerful women in the World.
Recently, as Chair of Barclays Bank Mozambique, Diogo has focused on leading BBM to expand business and achieving profits. Under her Leadership, BBM triplicated the profits in 3 years. Luisa Diogo has also recently started serving as chairperson of Global Alliance Insurance Company in Mozambique and Beleluane Industrial Park.
